it's -32 here in Whitehorse tonite... everything is under a blanket of ice fog.... the air is frozen.
but it's getting a bit too warm here.

it's just us 2... dancin' around the kitchen... dancin' like nobody's watching... because there is no one to watch us... except for our little 2 lb. chorkie dog. she believes we've lost our minds.

it's just a wee party with... Fleur... and The Bedlam Boys.

my first Christmas present of the season was in the mailbox tonite.

homesickness is approaching in waves with the sound of the real Pictou County fiddle... but the fun of dancing with my own 'rare one' is keeping it at bay.

Hope you are still putting out the tunes. We loved the two concerts we saw ...decoste with spider and dave gunning, and schoolhouse with karen corbin hughes and dave gunn. We were staying with george and isobel corbin and we enjoyed seeing both shows. .... i bought two of your cds and i am looking forward to hearing the new tunes.

Fleur, I still get goose bumps when I think back to the days of good ol' Settler's Pub when I was working there. You used to come in (under age of course), and rock the house!!! My favorite tune you did was the "Orange Blossom Special" ( I think that's what it was called). You used to do that with Dave Gunning and Kevin Brennan.... talk about good times!!! You had the place hoppin' every time.... thanks for the great memories!!! YOU ROCK!! Your Christmas CD is FANTASTIC!!! Talk to you soon!!

Just letting you know my thoughts and prayers are with you!!! and little disco too :) I miss playing with him when i went to fiddle lessons years ago but he's still cute as a button I noticed you had him with you at the bluegrass( the pictou festival at the end of august) on sunday! anyway hope your having some good days and my prayers are with you!!

A long time ago, in a small yet beautiful little cafe, a little girl shyly stares at the people staring at her.. she's there to entertain ... she's cradles her fiddle on her chin, and with a whimsical smile , plays her haunting and beautil melody... this was my introduction to Fleur Mainville, I was one of the waitresses at that cafe, and that moment resonates with me after all this time... and always will. Later in my life, having met a wonderful man.. and meeting him at Dooleys,, I once again met up with that child, now a woman... I've always cherished the warm feelings she put in my heart on a warm Sunday afternoon at Stonehouse Cafe. I am deeply saddened to hear that she is ill with such a terrible disease and hope her fight is succesful... I pray for her and her loved ones, her Mom, whom I had the pleasure to meet and who I saw the love and wonder in her eyes for her daughter, her dad who was so amazed at his little girls talent and so proud. I wish her and her family all the best and pray for them all.

Fleur has been an inspiration to my son. After hearing her play her fiddle, he desperately wanted to play the violin. Fluer went out of her way to find a student who could teach him to play. Hats off to you! Thank you for continuing to inspire adults and children alike.
